Founding Sponsors The Board of Trustees acknowledges the generous donations of the following organisations in establishing the ESRF, and for their continued financial support. European Society for Dermatological Research (ESDR) The ESDR was founded in 1970 and is the largest investigative dermatology society in Europe. Its role is to promote and support laboratory and clinical science related to dermatology with the aim of gaining a greater understanding of skin disease susceptibility and improving diagnosis and treatment of skin disorders. The interactions between clinicians and scientists in this Society, both within and as a result of its conferences, over the past four decades has led to significant advances in many clinical areas, including skin cancer, inflammatory skin diseases such as psoriasis and eczema, genetic skin disorders and a wide variety of skin infections. European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology (EADV) The EADV was founded in 1987 with the aim of promoting continuing medical education in dermatology and venereology across Europe. Its roles include improving the quality of patient care through the dissemination of the results of research and clinical experience to all Dermato-Venereologists in Europe and to act as an advocate on behalf of patients with skin and venereal disorders and their physicians. The Academy has played an important role in harmonising the training of Dermato-Venereologists and clinical care for their patients through its symposia and conferences and through its affiliations with other sister societies (e.g. UEMS and EDF). European Dermatology Forum (EDF) The EDF was formed in 1997 as an organisation dedicated to improving the healthcare needs of dermatology patients in Europe. One of its core aims has been to improve the standards in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of skin disorders, and it does this by interacting with physicians, patients, healthcare providers and government organisations. In addition, it has undertaken to produce regular evidence-based pan-European guidelines on management of skin diseases and to optimise teaching and training programmes in dermatology. Fondation René Touraine The René Touraine Foundation for Dermatological Research, set up in 1990, aims at promoting in France and abroad, any action that makes it possible to better understand the skin’s normal working, to favour the development of the means that enable it to protect from environmental aggressions, to discover the causes of its diseases, to improve the preventive and curative treatments of skin diseases, in particular occupational ones, to develop methods in order to treat more efficiently the genetic and congenital skin-related handicaps as well as the consequences of large skin destructions from serious accident burns, car accidents, vascular insufficiency, ulcers of the legs etc
